A calmer preview that follows your writing
- No flash on save. Re-renders no longer repaint the window — a save reads as either nothing at all or one quiet change. Saves that change nothing do exactly that.
- The preview follows your editing. Save while working deep in a long document and the preview glides to the block you changed, settling it in the upper third of the window. It never fights you: no movement if the edit is already on screen, and it stays put for a few seconds after you scroll the preview yourself.
- Strikethrough. ~~struck text~~ now renders properly everywhere — preview, Quick Look, and PDF export.
- Quieter windows. Settings only appears when you ask for it (⌘, or the app menu) or on first launch; opening a file gives you the preview and nothing else. A second copy of Markset now hands its file to the running one and bows out.
- A new app icon, drawn in Apple’s layered format for macOS 26 — light, dark, and tinted.

Typeset as you type, whatever you type in
- Live preview. Open a Markdown file with Markset: drop it on the Dock icon, or right-click → Open With, and you get a typeset preview pinned to that file. Save from any editor and the preview re-renders in place, holding your scroll position. It’s the same typesetting engine as export, so what you’re looking at is exactly what you’ll get.
- Export from the preview. ⌘E writes the typeset PDF next to your Markdown file. No dialogue, no settings to babysit. Export again and it quietly replaces the last one.
- Your workflow stays yours. Markset never claims Markdown files. Double-clicking a .md still opens your editor, same as yesterday.
- Settings apply live. Change theme or paper size in preferences and every open preview re-renders immediately.

Looking after our US users
- Added US Letter alongside A4. A new Paper size control in Preferences offers Auto, US Letter, and A4. Auto reads your system locale, so a US Mac defaults to Letter and a European Mac keeps A4 without fiddling.
- Added a second free-tier theme pairing Apple’s New York typeface with SF Pro Text on an oh-so-fine baseline grid.
- When you first export a PDF, macOS may now show a one-time “would like to access data from other apps” prompt. Click Allow as that’s the Quick Action reading your theme and paper-size choice from the host app’s Preferences.

Polish + quiet improvements
- Dropped the menu bar icon. Markset is now a regular utility app — launch it when you want Preferences, quit when you’re done. The QuickLook and Quick Action extensions keep working regardless of whether the host app is running.
- Onboarding’s “Try QuickLook” step now actually drops a demo
.mdfile in your Downloads folder and reveals it in Finder. In v1.0 the button silently no-op’d because the demo file wasn’t bundled — now it’s fixed and logs loudly if anything else goes wrong. - Checks for new versions on launch. A dismissable banner at the top of Preferences shows when a newer Markset is available.
- Optional email signup for new-version announcements, from the Preferences window or the homepage.
- Verified on macOS Sonoma (14), Sequoia (15), and Tahoe (26).
